What lifestyle choices are bad for your health?
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Tobacco is the single most preventable cause of death in the world today. Currently it kills 5.4 million people a year. If left unchecked that number will increase to more than 8 million a year by 2030.
Cigarettes contain tobacco. Smoking cigarettes can have many adverse effects on the body. Some of these can lead to life-threatening complications.

2. Excessive consumption of alcohol
Drinking too much alcohol either on a single occasion or over time can take a serious effect on your health.
Alcohol interferes with your brain’s communication pathways, and can affect the way the brain looks and works. These disruptions can change mood and behaviour, and make it harder to think clearly and move with coordination.
Drinking too much can weaken your immune system, chronic drinkers are prone to contract diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis than people who do not drink too much. It also affects your heart, liver, pancreas and also increases the risk of getting certain cancers.
3. Lack of physical exercise
Lack of physical activity affects your entire body, both inside and out. If you do not exercise regularly, you are bound to burn fewer calories than someone who is physically active. It can lead to many disorders, including obesity, muscle atrophy, osteoporosis, blood clots, type 2 diabetes , depression, a weakened immune system, and constipation.
4. Lack of sleep
If you don’t have a good night’s sleep you are bound to wake up feeling tired, sleepy, short tempered and lack focus. Sleep deprivation makes it difficult for your brain cells to communicate effectively, which in turn, can lead to temporary mental lapses that affect memory and visual perception.

5. Sexual behaviour
Risky sexual behaviour may include premarital sex, multiple sexual partners, unprotected sex etc. It can lead to many negative health effects for example sexually transmitted infections like HIV/AIDS and herpes, unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions, cervical cancer and infertility.
